Hey everyone!
Globalization is the process by which businesses or other organizations develop international influence or start operating on an international scale. Digital media plays a key role in the globalization and the internet. It is the technology that ties together the internet and globalization. It is the unifying language by which organizations use the web to reach and communicate with their global audience, while keeping the cost of production and delivery lower than it would be by utilizing other media or communication channels. Globalization through the internet has changed the way we communicate with one another socially and for business purposes. “For instance, socially and culturally, globalization has changed the perception of what a community is, redefined the meaning of cultural identity and civic society, and demanded a new way of intercultural interaction (Chen & Zhang, 2010). The internet has changed the way we interact with one another on a global scale, no longer a smaller scale shared between just two people. Especially through the use of smartphones we are now more connected than we ever were. We can easily send a text, surf the internet, shop online, etc. all through a small electronic device that we can hold in the palm of our hands. We now have social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter which allow us to talk to people all over the world and connect on levels we never would have thought otherwise if it weren’t for the help of the internet and smart devices. There are many positive effects to the globalization on the internet but a main one is it has radically changed the business world as we know it. It has enabled companies to improve their competitive edge and increase their productivity all because of the speed and access to information and electronic transactions. With every new technology and the positives, there are always going to be some negatives. One main negative aspect that could be seen from a mass media standpoint is it is taking over the way we communicate with one another on a daily basis and gives way to lose that connection we once had in communicating with people in person.

Globalization has been greatly facilitated by the rise of new media technologies, which have allowed the world to become far more connected on a global scale.
In my opinion, globalization of New Media has become one of the most useful tools that we are able to use for a variety of purposes. Our ability to connect with people around the world is made possible by New Media technologies. Many positive effects have been attributed to the rise of user-generated content along with the continual advancement of new media technology. With the help of New Media, you can learn so much from users all over the world through various channels. User-generated content on Twitter, TikTok, and Instagram often educates its users on religion, other cultures, and social issues.
However, like everything else, globalization of New Media has its downsides. In the last three years, there has only been an increase in the spread of false information. My globalization has come about as a result of conversations I have had with friends I met over a decade ago on the internet. Friends from various states in the US. Our group has since moved into a private Facebook group where we discuss a variety of topics. Over the years, I’ve met a few of them in person, but many of us haven’t.
