Part 1: Proposal
For the proposal, you will tell your reader about the town or neighborhood that you plan to visit and analyze for the project. Include why you chose this place and some of the things you expect to find there. 75 words. Please note: this must be a place that you can easily physically get to to collect data, as part of the project involves visiting the place and taking notes on what you observe.

For the statistics, you will be gathering statistical data on the place you chose from the U.S. Census Bureau’s American Community Survey. Please refer to the tutorial video above for detailed, step-by-step instructions on how to navigate the website. You will be collecting 13 data points (you’re welcome to include more, if you want), three of which I’ve already selected for you and ten of which you choose yourself. The data will be recorded in a form (the file attached above) and submitted.

Neighborhood Project (part 3): Field Notes and Photos (click here to submit)

For the field notes, you will visit your neighborhood or town and take notes and photos of things that you see that you think are interesting. (For example, you don’t have to look for these things, but you could consider: are there flags on display? What languages do you hear? Is there garbage on the ground? What kinds of foods are available? Are amenities particularly expensive or cheap?) Just make note of anything you hear, smell, or see that stands out to you. Bring a pen and paper (or an audio recorder) with you and write down or audio record your observations that you may want to include in your paper.
Field notes are typically informal and messy, so type them up in a coherent way that you will recognize later on and turn them in. Your notes must include detail, as that will make them easier to analyze later on. Type up your notes in bullet form. 250 words.
In addition, take and include at least five photographs of things that you see in the neighborhood/town that you think are interesting. They must be your own photos and not drawn from the internet or any other source. Include a caption for each photo describing what the photo depicts, and why you took the photo of the particular scene/item/whatever.
